45/410 choke ?

I have a 45/410 barrel I have the choke key but my ?is .Is there a screw in thread protector for this when I shoot the 45's with the choke out or does it not need one I will probably not be shooting many 410 loads out of this barrel and have some concern for the threads.thanks Kurt
