armalite ar-10 in 308
« on: June 06, 2003, 04:40:04 PM »
I am thinking about saving up and getting an armalite ar-10 in 308.
I would like to find anything out on this rifle
What can I expect in accuracy?
Is it worth the $1200 +?
Can one shoot cast bullets in it?
How many rounds will it hold?
Will the lowers fit other ar-15 type uppers?
Or anything I need to know about it

aRE THEY WORTH THE MONEY? YES.  Will it hold it`s value ? YES.

You are looking at a fine ar design, it uses converted M1-A MAGS so it`s not cheap to stock piles mags, they come standard with 10 rounders, since they came out after 1993.
The accurracy you can accept is that of a tuned AR-15, CAST BULLETS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED  because of feed ramp design(tends to scarr softer bullets even after feed ramp work).

BUT!!!! The SPRINGFIELD ARMORY M1-A will out perform it off the bench!Although heavier in comparasin I would by the M1-A if accuracy is the order of the day!
