Hi Guys,
I was wondering how people obtain new stocks. Like say I wanted to put a straight grip on my Ultra Varmint .22 Mag? Where would I go, will I need to fit it? What is the process?

There is a lot of links that can help you in the FAQ's section at the top of this section.
Here is the link, and I think it's the 4 block down when you scroll through the price list.

I got my stock from one of the sponsors at the top of this page. Gunstocks Inc.
You get an unfinished wood stock of your choice that has to be sanded and finished.
I took off quite a bit to get mine the way I wanted, but I love the fit and feel of the stock!
Hope this helps

I get mine from Gunstocks Inc but they need finishing. Part of the fun. Also Choate and Advance Technology.

Some like a rubbed in oil finish. Some use polyurethane. Laminated stocks are difficult to rub oil into (because of all of the resins used to laminate the wood), but members here have done it. I depends on the look you want. You can buy gun stock finishing kits too. In general the oil finishes penetrate the wood and then they put on a wax finish over the top for moisture protection. The polyurethane finish sits on top of the wood, doesn't penetrate much and is fairly water proof in it self. The oil finishes have a more subdued look, like a flat, none reflective type finish. The wood grain shows up very well with it, but in a laminated stock there is not much wood grain to bring out. The beauty is the laminates themselves. I believe factory finishes are of the polyurethane type. The polyurethanes are easier to apply. They can be brushed or sprayed on. You can get high gloss or semi-gloss types. There are epoxy finishes too. Basically you finish gun stocks like you would furniture. Any finish that is used for a table top will work for a gun stock. It just comes down to preference.
Good luck to you.
