What savage rifle would you recommend for 99% range use?
« on: September 05, 2007, 11:15:47 AM »
I'm looking to fill a gap in my rifles.  I have owned a savage 12fv in 223 and it was a tack driver.  I had to sell it because of my dear sweet wifes credit card.  Now I'll be in a position to replace it and I wanted to get some opinions on what varmint model to go with.  I am leaning towards the 12BVSS or Low Profile.  I'd even consider just getting a savage weather warrior in 223 too.

Is there one of these varmint models that's more accurate than the other?  I don't know if I want to spend the extra $$ on the precision model.  I know the 12bvss is a little cheaper than the low profile, and both are cheaper than the precision model.  I'm after what model will give me the best accuracy for my money.  From what I've heard all of these will shoot sub MOA without a second thought.

I already load for 223 and still have plenty of ammo just sitting around looking for a good home so I'd like to stay with the 223.  I still have my nikon 6-18 that was on my 12FV and that'll go on top of whatever the new rifle ends up being.

This rifle will spend 99% of it's life at the rifle range and being pampered while it's at home if that makes any difference to anyone.

Thanks for pointing those out.  I must have missed those while I was looking at Chuck Hawks website.  From what I read it's something of a preference on the stock more than anything else.  Sounded like any of them would do exactly what I'd like it to.
