17 rem barrel on the way
« on: June 11, 2003, 04:47:17 AM »
Well, I ordered a 22" bull barrel and 2 1/4 wide forearm w/finget grips from VVCG's for my contender.

Now the question is can or will anyone out there share their pet loads that they use for p-dog shooting with the 17 rem?  I want to get a jump on it and start gathering some reloading suppies for the new barrel when it gets here.

thanks :D

I had great luck with Varget as the powder on my last 17 Rem.  I had used 4320 on the ones before and liked Varget better.  Any good 17 cal bullet.  I used Starkes but he has quit making bullets.  See if you can get some Berger 17 cal bullets.  Bullets make all the difference.

MINNESOTA DICK -

If you want to try the 17 cal Starke or Berger's in your new barrel, I have a box of both (200 ea.) that I would trade for 17 cal Hornady 20 gr. V-Max's.   2 for 1 on the Starke's - 1.5 for 1 on the Berger's.   Drop me a PM if interested.
