Got me an Ultra!!!!
« on: August 25, 2007, 09:25:38 AM »
Ran across this NWTF Ultra in 25-06 at the gun shop the other day and I fell in love. Went back at lunch today and brought it home. Man I am pumped. Cant wait to shoot it. Going to be trying the Hornady 117gr and the Fusion 120gr. Cant wait.

Going to mount a Swift Premier 4-12x40 on it. Have the same scope on my Handi 243 and love it.

Thanks for the pier pressure Mac ;D

Quite a set of "open" sights you have there. Very pretty rifle, let us know how you are planning to scope it.
Congrats!

The main reason I am glad it is the older model is it has the ejector instead of the extractor. I like the ejector a lot better.

I've got both...and truth be told...I like them both...The ejectors are quicker to get the cases out..but..it's still a single shot...and as long as I do my part...I only need to take 1 shot...so I generally don't worry about rushing to get another shot..Also...since I reload...I like to be able to pull my case out with having to chase them around..and fire forming them is much better with the extractor over the ejector since it is a captive extractor..So...I can live with either one...I guess on a varmint gun it may matter more to me..but...I have bolt guns for varmint hunting...

That's a nice scope your going to mount on it Statelinerut...let us know how it does...

I hear ya on the bolt guns for the predators. I bring out the CZ for them.

I have this same scope on the 243 Handi and it has worked flawlessly so far. The Premier is a very good scope for the money.

Congratulations!  That is one fine looking rifle and in .25-06, too!  Not a caliber I've seen many "fancy" NEF's/H&R's in.

Enjoy!

Oh, and should you ever want to part with it ...  ;D  ;D  ;D
