Buffalo Classic question

Hello folks - just a question about the new Buffalo Classic in .45-70 I just got.

I really like the looks of the rifle as it sits, especially the curved, case-colored butt-plate. However, I am considering purchasing a replacement buttstock for use at the range. Fifty plus rounds of 405s at the bench will leave me beat up a bit. Once I have loads worked up, I'll return the original buttstock. My question is; "Does anyone here know what model of Simms Limbsaver Recoil Pad would best fit the H&R replacement buttsocks?"

Welcome to GBO! :D None of the prefit will work, the only one that will fit with some work is the small grind to fit #10541. Been there!

They also have come out with a new slip on that comes in 3 sizes!!!. That would be the ticket, easy to use on any stock you want it on and easy to fit, no grinding or sanding. Check their website or a dealer for specs, I forget what length and width each of fit (S,M,and L)....<><.... :grin:

MSP, I forgot about the slip on :oops: ....the small fits the wood stock like a glove, I have one but don't use it cuz their ugly.....but very functional! :wink:

For shooting off the bench you can't beat a slip on. I have one on a 20g O/U that had a very poor factory recoil pad. Toke it off and slipped on the limp saver. Game over. No cutting, no grinding and no damage to the stock finish.

If your just going to change it out for the range and then change back, I have seen a few BPCR shooters that have the cresent buttstock on their Sharps rifles use PAST Recoil Shield Field Ambidextrous  Sure beats the added expense of a stock, and these do work well.

Just a thought  :D

Some day when I get a few extra bucks I am going to buy a Sims slip on, it sure looks like to ticket to me!!!....<><.... :grin:

I was thinking the medium might be better for me If I just want to leave the stock recoil pad on for bench shooting....

Most places sell em for $35-$40, but several sell em for $25-$30....I paid $24.95 for mine at Sportsmans Warehouse.

Thanks all. I think the slip-on and PAST shields will do the trick for the range. (Sorry about not getting back sooner on this. Since I don't get automatic notices of responses, I don't look.)

Now it's a 1878 Martini Enfield chambered in .50-.348 Win (AKA .50 Alaskan). I'm sure the slip-on and PAST shields are the best idea for this rifle at the bench too.
