I've got a grand total of one Mod 83 so far, a 7 1/2", and was thinking along the lines of a 4 3/4" for hip carry up in the woods. There was just such a gun on Gun Broker recently, a "Factory new" 4 3/4" .454 Premier with box and papers, etc. There was no reserve and I fully expected this one to end up at around $1700 to $1800 in the last few minutes of bidding. It sold for $1375! I'm kinda kickin' myself for not following the auction closer. That had to be around $300 below dealer cost. I never did contact the seller and don't know the story on this gun...maybe someone put money down and backed out of the deal and the dealer could afford to let 'er go cheap.
