They claim that an average 150 pound crossbow is equal to a 70 pound compound in performance. Now I had a Barnett Ranger that I killed two deer with that only shot at 240 fps and I would bet it was slower as I shoot heavier arrows than some. Also most bow and crossbow companies use a light arrow set up for speed when they advertise fps and the average hunter uses a heavier arrow than what they do for advertising purposes. My Excaliber Wolverine 150# pull will shoot the heavier arrows I shoot ( aluminum and 125 grain heads and 5 inch feathers) at 265 fps. I am sure shooting carbons and 100 grain heads would get me around 285 fps. That Horton Package as long as it is a compound will be a fine starter xbow for your daughter. My Wolverine buries the arrows right up to the fletching at 20 yards in the foam layer target. (Field Logic) At 20 and 30 yards you should get a pass through like your bow does as long as she puts them in the boiler room. While the red dot os fine a Horton crossbow scope is nicer if they allow them in your state. I know every states regs are different. Horton Makes a good product. My brother has a Horton and it is accurate first year using it last year he killed the first deer he shot at with out any problems. I just looked at Sportsmans Guide they sell the Summit (Same crossbow???) for 300 with a Scope. Now them Simmons crossbow scopes I do not like the Reticle like some others but It still may be better than a red dot as it has magnification which is nice. Here is a link. Looks like no arrows come with the package but I suppose you could get them extra.
http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=351877 Good luck let me know what you decide. One other thing I really think the Excaliber Vixen would be a great choice too but then you have to buy the other stuff you need extra so if money is an issue the Horton would be the way to go.
