I personally would go with the USH.  For one thing I am recoil sensitive and I am sure the 870 would kick a bit harder.  In the accuracy department I feel the USH will out do the 870 however that can depend on the individual gun.  I presently have a 20 ga USH and love it.

If you do not mind the weight, the USH is the ticket.  It is more accurate, and you would have a dedicated gun for this purpose and more cost effective.  If you already have the 870, buy the slug barrel, it is much lighter, you have the ability for quick follow up shots, and it will be as accurate as you can shoot it.
  I have a buddy that has a USH and loves it.  I have an 870 with a slug barrel and love it.  I already had an 870 for pheasent, so all I needed was a slug barrel.  My buddy did not have a pump shotgun, and he did not mind the extra weight.  I hunt much deeper in the woods, and really do not want to lug around the extra weight.

Most of my shots will be from a tree stand or ground blind and the odd shot across the open prairies.
I think I'm gearing more toward the pump though.

Since I've owned both I will give you my opinion.

If you feel you might need (or want) multiple shots then consider the 870.
It's more than adequate to get the job done.

If you want a truly accurate, consistent and dedicated slug gun, then its USH all the way!

I've never gun hunted from a tree stand so I'll leave that up to you if there are other considerations.
But from a ground blind the USH would be my weapon of choice.

Well, this is the end result, I bought an NEF Tracker II in 12g instead. Why you ask? I ended up having to replace the scope on my Encore 209x50 this last wknd so funds were near scarce...the funny thing is, The NEF was the 1st sluggun I was gonna buy in the 1st place, until I started reading all the threads on here and Shotgunworld.com. I'm thinking of putting one of those One Hole sights from One Ragged Hole.
