« on: June 26, 2007, 06:39:37 AM »
;D  I just picked up a LC Smith Hunter Field grade for $ 250.00. 20ga 25 1/2 barrels double trigger and in wonderful shape. I thought it would make a great birdl gun. Has any one any experience with one of these and what do you think about the price?  Jess

Nope no first hand experience but if you picked up an Elsie for that price you stole it. Nice find.

I have a couple and love them. This is the old style LC Smith I assume? The stuff that Marlin is throwing out on the market today with the LC Smith name is junk by comparison.

I have 16ga produced in 1947 and 12 ga produced in 1928.  They are solid, tight and shoot great.

$250 for an LC Smith is almost unbelievable. GB has only a few that are below $1000 and the last one I bought I paid $700 for.

You need to get a couple snap caps so you can relieve the tension on the firing pins during storage. Snapping the hammers on the pins with empty chambers is a bad thing.  You will break the firing pins eventually.

Enjoy!
