Crimp for 30/30?
« on: June 09, 2003, 04:50:35 AM »
When I load 30/30 for my contender I do not crimp.  A friend wants to use some of my reloads in his 94.  Should I go back and crimp?  I am afraid the bullets will push back into the cases.

Thanks

Bill

For your[legal]safety, have him load the ammunition. Not trying to be paranoid, but in these  lawsuit happy times.....
Crimping won't hurt ,especially in a tubular magazine. I also put sealant on the crimp junction and primer to seal the ammunition against weather and dunks in the streams.

If they are going into a tubular magazine, I would crimp them.  One of the main purposes of the crimp is to keep the bullets in place in tubular magazines, revolvers, etc.
