re-barrel an action??

Anyone have any recomendations or expeirence with re-barreling??  I want to change the caliber of a rifle for another within the same basic case family.  .270 to .35 Whelen??  Please advise.....

  It's a fairly common process and not too expensive...What kind of action do you want to rebarrel ?
  There are lots of places to get them from as well...I prefer letting E R Shaw do my rebarreling...It takes them about 16 weeks but they do great work for a good price.

  Nah, the gold plating takes 6 months and is a lot more expensive...
  Seriously though, unless you know a local gunsmith that will do the work, I think 3-4 months is the norm as most are pretty booked up with work orders.

Well a good friend of mine has a 458 lott coming from there right now. It's been on order for a few weeks.. They estimated 12-16 weeks.. Some of the local guys have stopped taking in work until they get caught up a bit.
