CONTENDER THREAD CAP
« on: May 23, 2003, 01:12:45 PM »
on the old style thompson center contender oct. barrels with the choke on the outside....  i dont use shot shell in them and NEVER WILL  i dont like the idea of exposed threads and i think i would get recoil reduction, not that its needed, if i use a thread cap..+IT WOULD LOOK BETTER
i would like to know if i can cut down the ckoke at the taper and be safe shooting it. i know you cant shoot bullets with the choke on but if i cut this far back would i be ok???

1  if this cant be done does any one make thread caps for this  :?:

ANY HELP WOULD BE GOOD   THANKS
I have yet been able to shoot a 3 shot sub 1" group at 100 yards ...........on any deer!!!!!!

I don't believe TC makes the external choke barrels any more but am not certain.  Have you spoken with TC?  They tend to be quite helpful..  I am not a contender guru but would believe any machine shop could make an internally threaded sleeve that would cover the exposed threads...
