I looked at some of those over the weekend and they are between 650 and 750 new.  Usually S&W revolvers hold their value pretty well.  What state are you in?

Around here $450-$500 seems about the upper limit on them in used condition. But it really depends on how badly the buyer wants it and how badly the seller wants to be rid of it. I've paid as much as $100-$150 over what I felt some guns were really worth just cuz I wanted it badly and the current owner wasn't in all that much of a mood to let it go. Those for sure are the kind you hold onto and not let go of as you'll not likely ever get your money back on them.

I've had my eyes open for a used S&W 44 for a while now and here in Indiana some of the guys think they can get every dollar they ever put into one right back out of it.  I'd be lucky to find one more than $100 off the price of a new one.  I'm still keeping my eyes out for a deal though.

I would want you to be happy with your deal...incidentally, I may sell some leather with it, since I will have to check but I do not think anything I have will fit that leather probly Galco and Bianchi belt holster and shoulder rig, but a bit darkened from mink oil... i like it like that... also have a couple of speed loaders... nice to have as well..
it is deadly accurate, the trigger is good... I will have to learn to post pics or get someone to help me here..but hey, you will find me easy to deal with..

I guess this is not the right place for this so I will not post it as a for sale at this time and will discuss with you as you prefer... I may sell it on the classifieds if it moves me to do so at a later time.  right now I just get a kick that someone else might enjoy the weapon like I do when I got the wants for something special.

Like bill said somewhere between 450 and 500 is about the going rate for a decent one.
