custom Handi Barrels?
« on: April 23, 2007, 04:23:39 AM »
Is there another source for handi rifle barrels?  The NEF barrels are accurate but only after a long break-in.  Is there a company who supplies higher quality barrels?

No one makes a custom replacement barrel for the H&Rs , but you do have options , one is a rechamber to a diffrent cal. and the other is this .

The chamber/bore can be polished to aid in speeding up this break in process which has given me excellent accuracy from almost every one I have owned..If you prep the barrel and forearm correctly prior to shooting them..most will give surprisingly good results...for a few hours of sweat equity..so for me there really isn't a long break in period...you can find this information in the FAQ sticky at the top of the page....It won't help much if the barrel isn't chambered or rifled correctly...or has other existing problems..best corrected by the factory...even just shooting them in doesn't take very long provided your doing a good break in procedure with adequate cleaning between shots...These rifles are in-expensive enough to allow you many different options...even as far as having an existing barrel completely re-bored & re-chambered if this is something you want to do..which is something I have done on a couple with very good results and as you can see there are other options for them as well...Time & money is all that's needed...
