.32 cal rat and snake shot??

Posted this under hand gun hunting also thought i would try here, does any make this.  Want some to use in my old S&W .32/20 when I wade the river and fish. .22 might not have enough range. Thanks!!

Probably not.  I THINK that CCI is the only company that offers snake shot. 

If you handload, you might be able to cook something up.

I think you are right.  CCI carries a whole line of them.  But, 32 cal. is not in the list.  I have never seen any in 32.  I agree that you would probably want something larger than 22's.  You're gonna need more than a 22 to stop a hungry, P/O'd cotton mouth that wants your fish.

Don't underestimate the effectiveness of the lowly .22.  I carryed a .22 for many years while fishing from a tube.  I have killed many BIG snakes with it, some may have required more than one shot, but in the end they were dead.

I picked the .22 because I found a cheap (ROHM cost $25-$30) Saturday night special that I could leave in one of the compartments in the tube, and didn't mind getting wet, or a little rust on the gun, and wouldn't cry if someone releived me of it.  The little gun never failed me over almost 30 years.

Today, I don't tube fish anymore, and my choice is the .38, I loaded up a hundred round of shotshell several years ago, and am still shooting them out of my model 60.  I have killed several really big rattlesnakes with them.  I think it is about as cheap to buy ready rolled as to reload today.

I have found that if you load your own with #12 shot, it works much better that the store bought stuff. We get some pretty big slitheries here in the desert, and they just go limp if you shoot them with #12.

According to those guys on tv you only need a stick, and go up and grab them all you want, they wont bite.

I too was curious about 32 bird shot shells. I've been told that you can seat a 32 gas check on top of the appropriate powder charge, fill the remainder of the case with shot, then seat another gas check on top, and roll crimp it all in place. Supposedly, this method produces better ammo than any you can buy?

Birdshot from a rifled barrel is pretty close to worthless even in 45/70 or 410. The original post inquired about a 32/20. No way, with that slightly bottlenecked case you'd not be able to seat any sort of bore-size wad below the case shoulder and you'd not get more than a dozen pellets in the short neck. Please don't ruin a good old revolver trying to make it something it can never possibly be.

That's what I get for speed reading a post. I thought he said 32 magnum. You're right! Don't try what I said with a bottle necked cartridge!
