Ruger 77allweather

Need help! Ihave been reading how good the Ruger model 77 shoots, I have a 77/22 hornet that at best is only good for a 1.5 inch group at 50 yards! I have tried factory loads, many different hand loads, powers, primers bullets and brass, three different scopes and still shoots terrible. I like the looks and feel of this rifle, and the hornet round is just what I've been looking for. Can load up to 3000 fps or down to 22 mag speed. I have tried pressure points, shimed the bolt .005 to prevent the primers from backing out and many different loads. Have been working on this POS for about a year now, I need help before I get really get PO and get rid of this rifle. I have a friend who HAD a model 77 in 308 cal which shot similar to my 77, sent it back to Ruger to be repaired, got it back with a note saying it had been repaired, no explanation. He tried again with same results as before the repair. He no longer owns any Rugers. On the positive side I did make major improvements in my 77/22. shimed the barell .005 to stop the movement of barell in the receiver. Shoots a little over a .5 at 50 yards with remington bulk ammo. Sorry for the long post.
Thank God I live in the good old US of A. !!!

I've heard that about Ruger's.  I have a M77MKII in 25-06 that is a tack driver, but I've heard of some dogs in that rifle also.  Good luck.

This may sound stupid but are you  shooting 3 round groups to test your rifle? I also have a Ruger in S/S but its a .222rem . If i stick to 3 rounds on a cold barrel its very good. If i open this up to say 5 rounds the MOA jumps really bad! Mine seems to hate a hotter barrel. I put it down to a bad bedding problem though. I have no problem in the field though as all shots are from a cold barrel.
