My name is Dan and I'm a Handiholic !!!
« on: March 08, 2007, 03:22:58 PM »
Hi All,   I bought my first Handi at a gun show the middle of February. It's a 22-250 / 20 gauge Combo. I fired 10 handloads through it and was SO impressed with the accruacy of those ten .22-250's that I sent it in for three new barrels. Looking at those barrels, standing so lonely, in the gun cabinet, I knew I had to buy another one to shoot while waiting for the one I sent off. Solved that problem at BassPro tonight with a Sportster in .17 mach 2. Can't wait to break it in tomorrow. I'm headed out to my shop , as soon as  I get off the computer, to clean it, smooth off a couple of rough spots and mount and bore sight a scope. Hmmmm !! I  COULD  send this in for a .22 lr barrel ... or maybe a .22 magnum. All I would have to do is buy another one to shoot while this one is at the factory.

Do they have an antidote for this  "condition" ?    Dan

Congrats, Dan!! I'd think twice about sending the SS1 frame in for a 22Lr barrel, that'll cost you right at $100, an entire 22Lr Sportster is $117 at Walmart and maybe even at BPS, Academy had em for $90 last year, BiMart here sells it for $110.

Way to go Dan , like Tim said , you are better off buying a whole rifle for a 22LR , i just picked up a 22 Mag for $112+ tax at my local MC Sports . I did awhile back send in for 2 22 mag bull barrels from H&R , but i was planing to use them for donor barrels for re-chamber / re-bore jobs and needed the extra metal .

I do see a full fledged handi-holic in the making .  ;D

Thanks to both Tim and Stimpy for the pricing info. I was just kidding about sending in for a rimfire barrel ... HOWEVER   I can see a definite "NEED"(?) in my future for another SB-2. I bought the .22-250 / 20 gauge combo because it was a good price but was surprised when it shot as well as my Browning A-Bolt. If this Sportster shoots as well as my high dollar HMR, I will definitely be hooked-on-handi's.

Well you better get ready to be hooked. Both my sportsters(22lr&17M2)will out shoot the high dollar guns that a couple of my buddies have.If you do your part they'll perform just fine.My 22lr will 1/4" at 25 yds with the Remington golden and the 17m2 will do one holes at the same. It's not particular either but I use the Hornaday vmax.Dave
