T/C do it yourself Trigger Jobs
« on: March 07, 2007, 09:45:45 AM »
I recently purchased a Trapper spring kit for my Contender.  With Great anticipation I put it in and carefully weighed the pull with my Lyman Digital reader.  The weight increased by about 6 oz.  I was really dissappointed!  It's now at about 3 lbs 10 oz.  I wanted something in the neighborhood of 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 lbs.  I do not want one like people use in silhouette shooting. I do not want a 14 oz or 1 lb pull for this frame.

Does anyone know of any good spring kits or do it yourself trigger job kits?  I have stones to smooth things out-I do my own S&W action jobs-but it breaks clean right now.  Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

I used the spring that holds the flint in a bic lighter. This works on a old style contender.
With the new spring and a little adjustment my trigger is fabulous!

There are after-market accessories available for the Contender/Encore frames from various places on the internet.  Just google "contender spring kit" or the like and see what comes up.

I also used the BIC spring method on both of my older style frames and it works great! I saved the original heavier spring for hunting but for punching paper you can't beat the lighter spring.
