Spring Kit Problem
« on: February 25, 2007, 05:55:58 AM »
I installed a trapper spring kit into a friends Contender frame and now the action wont cock correctly. I've installed several of these kits in the past on other frames and have never had a problem. So far I have removed the spring kit and I still have the problem. The trigger will reset but the hammer won't lock back. Any ideas on what I need to do? ???

glockbox,
If it’s one of the older Contenders and it has the adjustable trigger, maybe the screw that does the “let off” (not the correct terms!) adjustment is screwed in too far.  When I adjust the trigger pull on mine, I screw it in until the hammer won’t stay back and then back it off ½ turn or so.  BUT, my Contenders that I do this to are only shot from a bench and not carried in the field.  They have a trigger that is too light for actual hunting purposes.  Good-luck…BCB
