T/C barrels and Burris scopes

First of all let me heap lots of praise on this site.  There is every kind of info on here that you could want.  I read it at least once a day.  I would like to address my remarks in reference to the numerous posts on here regarding the poor quality of T/C factory barrels.  I am new to this kind of gun but I must tell you that I am just thrilled with the accuracy of my 7/30 Waters barrel and my Burris 3X12 scope.  I never thought it possible to have this kind of accuracy out of a handgun.  Maybe after a few years experience with custom made barrels and other scopes I may change my tune, but right now it shoots a whole lot better than I can aim it! :)
The older I get the better I was!

i have a custom stainless virgin valley 6br encore barrel that is very accurate and is a really good looking barrel. by the same token, i have a 15" 7-08 in encore, 14".223, and 14" 6tcu in contender. these are TC factory barrels and are super accurate as well. a custom job is not necessary unless it's something you just want for fun, or a caliber not offered in factory configuration. my next barrel may just be another factory number in 17hmr. :D

Gman, I have been shooting Contenders for many years. To start with all of the barrels I shot were Factory Production Barrels. Their accuracy is what has endeared the Contender to me. Then as I progressed with my passion for Contendrs I opted for Custom Barrels. This was largely due to the custom barrels being offered in chamberings that the T/C Factory didn't offer.

Did the custom barrels offer an accuracy advantage over the factory production barrels ? I can not honestly answer that question as I have never had a custom barrel and a factory barrel in the same chambering to compair. I can say that all of the custom barrels I have had have shot great, but then I have had many factory production barrels that have shot great also.

In the end the way I see it is this, you spend your money and you takes your chances. I would like to think that the odds of getting a custom barrel that did not shoot would be less, and the reason is simple. The shops putting out custom barrels do this as their main business, and as such hopefully pay more attention to detail. On the other hand the T/C Factory not only produces barrels, but complete guns and accessories as well so they are producing many more products than just barrels.

Now everything should be as clear as mud, right?
