H&R Buffalo Classic in 45-70 32" Barrel
« on: February 11, 2007, 04:52:01 PM »
I am thinking about buying one of these and was wandering what kind of range I can get out of it and what to expect from this gun. I have a Ultra Varmint in 223 that I love but this is a beast of another color. Any input greatly appreciated. :)

I have a gun just like yours. Hunt here in MS where it is legal to hunt during primitive weapons season with a scope. I have had no problem killing deer over 150yds with a mild  load of 46gr of IMR 4198 and a 300 gr HP. My gun and several of my friends shoot under 1.5" at 100 yds. With a little work I bet you can make your gun into a long range wonder!

I know mine will shoot a 7 x 2 3/4" five shot group at 600yds with H777.  On an average day, 12-14" groups @ 600yds with black powder
