Buying online guns?
« on: February 07, 2007, 05:56:40 AM »
Do you pay the online dealer or the FFL guy its shipped to?  Is there tax? How do you tell them who to ship to? Or does your FFL  dealer make the transaction for You? How much is shipping for rifle or pistols is it different? Thanks for any info.

You can find a dealer to recieve the firearm by using one of the online locators like below, contact them and make sure they're in business and confirm their fee and if they charge tax, some do. If you buy from a dealer, they'll have a procedure to follow, usually they'll want a copy of the receiving FFL's license, but not always, the ATF has an online verification web site now that can be used in lieu of the hard copy or fax copy which is legal now. If buying from an individual, same procedure, but a lot of FFLs won't send a copy of their license to an unlicensed person, only to another FFL. A shipping dealer should just charge shipping, no fee on that end. Same applies to a handgun with some exceptions, see the ATF FAQ below. Also check the NRA state laws, some states have rules that are more strict than federal laws.
