« on: December 18, 2006, 02:24:42 AM »
Hello, I need a Remington Rolling Block cleaning rod for a 7mm Rolling Block rifle, not a carbine. I believe it to be a #5 RB...If you don't have one for sale does anyone know where I might get one?  Thanks in advance for any assistance....<><.... :)

Just to keep you guys updated my search has led me to S&S Firearms in  Glendale NY, they do not have any original cleaning/wiping rods for the 7mm Mauser Rolling Blocks but that is one of the rods they plan on reproducing at some time in the future. I will continue to check with them to buy one, preferably an original. I have come up with a schematic for the rod with dimensions for the proper original rod and offered them the diagram however thay have an original rod (to copy, not for sale) and declined my offer. If I cannot buy one I can make one that will fit and work however at some point I do want to obtain an original rod to complete my new old gun....<><.... :)

If S&S is into small lot manufacturing, someone ought to convince them to turn out a batch of #1 Rolling Block carbine rear sights. The little devils are almost impossible to find.  boomer

I too need a cleaning rod for the RB.  Can you supply the schematic that you have so that I can try and make one, or find someone in my area to do so?  Please reply.
Thanks.

Oops, I just saw that you only have 2 posts, I think you cannot send PM's until you have at least 5 posts, that is an attempt to prevent spamming somehow. I will send you a PM with my e-mail address, if you get it e-mail me with your e-mail address. We will get this done it may just take a little longer....<><.... :)

Not much help with that one here buddy although they may be similar. This is my first RB.  If I were you I would do what I did. I located a gun of my type (mine is a Model #5, Mexican in 7MM) with the same lentgh barrel (important)  with the proper original bayonet, I was lucky enough to locate photo's and diagrams for the cleaning/wiping rod which were made by an owner of an original rod. Perhaps you can do the same for your Swedish RB and attempt to copy thier cleaning/wiping rod. I would also try S&S Firearms in Glendale NY, they are very knowledgable and helpful and if they don't have one now they may get one in later. They will not put you on a list however, you have to just keep calling them every few weeks. Who knows thet have one in stock, you can check thier inventory online..Best of Luck....<><... :)

Hello Dave8491, I would really be interested in the cleaning rod if it is similar in appearance and dimensions to a 7mm Rolling Block rod. It should be appx 0.190" in diameter and appx 28 5/8" long. One end is threaded and the other is just a bit flattened in a small section with a slot in it for a patch. If you would either post or e-mail me some pictures of the rod ends plus the diameter and length or if you would PM me an e-mail address I can send you some pictures plus a schematic of the rod I need. I have figured out how to e-mail (forward) pictures but I cannot post pictures here..Thanks...

Oops, I just looked, with only one post you cannot send or recieve PM's yet, you need 5 posts to utilize that feature. My e-mail is armartin1(at)comcast.net .....Thanks for any efforts

and  -  Welcome aboard, I think you are going to enjoy this site....<><.... :)

MSP.......Dixie Gunworks has a ramrod for the 50/70 Springfield Trapdoor that looks just like the ones that came on the #5's, trouble is, it's not black, it looks stainless.
