Is it rare or have I junt not seen any?

I dropped by a pawn shop south of Atlanta today and checked out their gun selection.  They had around 20 different h&r and nef rifles and shotguns.  They had 5 guns with a red/gray laminated stocks (45/70, 243, 243/410 combo, 20 ga, and 44)  I was interested in the 45/70.  It had a straite stock (like I want) and was priced at $249.  Are the laminated stocks a limited run of some type or have I been missing something?

There're probably the RSR NEFs, they're a distributor that special ordered them, a bunch of us bought some from TGS last year.

That's a good price, about what an Ultra goes for, and as far as I know, it isn't available from RSR any more, they don't have it listed, neither does TGS, but any distributor could put in an order to H&R anytime, seems to me their min special order is 500 firearms. I wouldn't say they're common, a lot of folks have looked for em, but they don't find em often, so running on to a stash of 5 is a good find. ;)

Bought the 45/70!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All their "hunting guns" are marked down 10% till Feb. 14 so I got it for $225.  While I was there I took note on the other redish laminated handi's.  They had a 20ga for $161, a 44 for $225, a 243 for $233, a 223/410ga combo for $251.   Guess I'm hooked, the 45/70 makes the 4th handi in 2007.

Here is a pict. of the 45/70 I just bought.  If moma don't scream to loud I think i'm going to get the 243 as well.  I can say its for our boys and might get away with it.  My 450 with the 18" tube is so fun I think I might get this one chopped of too, maybe 16.5" and install a ghost ring or something.  What do ya'll think?  Sorry about the pict., I took it with my cell phone.
