Scout Scope mount for cz 550 fs?????
« on: December 13, 2006, 08:03:23 AM »
Does anyone know of anybody who makes a scout scope mount for the cz??
I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on; I don't do these things to other people and I require the same from them.

The only thing that I have found is the Burris mount for the Rem 700.  It might could be machined to fit the CZ barrel.

I've got one on order to put on my 700.

Another option is to fit a half rib to the barrel and make that the mount.  I would also think that the humps on the reciever would get in the way.

The scout concept is a good one, but with out Col Cooper's patronage it seems destined to fade away.

You mount the scope with a set of rings only, no base cause the base is already on the rifle. The CZ 550 Full Stock takes the same scope rings as the CZ 550 American. You can order a set from CZ, or go to GunBroker.com and type in CZ 550 in the search engine window. You'll see there are several folks selling the rings. Talley also sells rings for the CZ 550 in both Full Stock and American, so does Warne (I may have screwed the spelling up on that one). Tom Purdom

FORGET THIS POST MISSOURI. I DID NOT FULLY READ YOUR ORIGINAL POST ABOUT "SCOUT" SCOPE MOUNTS. SORRY! TOM PURDOM

Unfortunately scout scope mounts are few and far between and most require gunsmithing.  That said, I had an XS mount put on a Tikka T3 two years ago and couldn't be happier.  The gunsmith had to remove and turn down the barrel, then remove material from the barrel channel to make it fit but he did a good job.  Nice light mount and the Weaver rail makes mounting/removing the scope a snap.  I have a Burris mount laying around that I've been thinking of putting on a rifle but I can't seem to get over the fact that I can't remove the scope easily once I put it on.  The scout concept is a great one, good luck getting one set up.
