i need some help

seen a crossbow rifle at a shop the other day 4 80 bucks......150 lb pull with a sturup.it has no pullys just a steal arm.....are these any good for hunting??will i be able to hit anything with it???thanks jb

First of all do not mention rifle with the words crossbow a crossbow is just what it says a bow that is horizontal instead of verticle. It may be mounted on a stock,  but it is no rifle.  Us crossbow shooters are trying to get folks to understand it is a archery product not a rifle which is a firearm. If it has a steel prod it sounds like a Horton Steel Force. From what I have heard they do have problems  with the prods breaking. I would stay away from it. The Horton compounds on the other hand work fine.

Any bow you pay $80 for, your probaly buying $80 worth of junk. If you do buy it,  do your heirs a favor and double your life insurance. It could also be a Daco from th '80s or a Whammo Powermaster from the '60s and '70s, both wall hangers These xbows had steel or aluminum recurve prods that were prone to metal fatigue and broke, scattering peices of the limb anywhere. I speak from personal experience.

Good luck on finding a crossbow. I would stay away from any chineese junk or cheap barnett crossbows too. The chinese junk is the cheap recurve junk you see on the net. Excaliber is the best Recurve you can buy. You can get a Vixen for 350 bucks new or maybe cheaper on Ebay. Horton Packages start out at about 300 bucks for a compound and accessories. Excaliber has a excellent customer service too. Ten Points are excellent compounds too but pricey. The others I am not that sure of. These three brands seem to be the most common with a sprinkling of the other brands too like the more expensive Barnetts and the Parkers, Great Lakes ect.
