Schrade Sharpfinger
« on: September 04, 2006, 11:48:14 AM »
I came across a Schrade Sharpfinger the other day that was made here in the US. It was new in the box and the price was right so I bought it. I think the last ones were made in 2004 and are now being made in China. Anyway it's not a high end knife or of great value but I can't belive how comfortable they are to use, and carry. It took a nice edge but is still to new to see how long the edge will hold.  As you can see, not much going on here but I thought I'd write a little on the new knife...Jim

I grew up with those knives laying around.  For a while, a lot of the outdoor magazines plus American Rifleman were offering them as an inducement to suscrible. My Dad must have had 5 of them laying around. I bought one years ago that had the 'Scrimshawed" handle in white Delrin.  Never used them much, once and a while on a deer just to use it.  Deer don't take much skinning.  Nice handy little knives though; and the design was really comfortable to use if you were skinning with it.

I had one for years, and recently lost it. I hadn't used it in quite a while, though, as it would never hold an edge very long. Would sharpen up super fast, though, just wouldn't keep it.

I've used one exclusively for over 15 years.  It's not a fancy, custom knife, but it is comfortable, useful, and a classic!
