Browning Gold 12 -3 1/2"
« on: December 29, 2006, 09:31:21 AM »
A customer brought me a subject shotgun with a complaint of failure to eject fired shells.  I tried it and found that the fired shell length (Winchester Xpert 3 1/2") was too long from the ejector to the forward end of the ejection port to clear the ejection port.  Is this common with these shells or do all 3 1/2" shells present this problem?  Any comments or suggestions?

It would make no difference about the receiver.  The barrel (with the forward end of the ejection port and the ejector on the barrel extension are a uni-structured unit) and it is marked as a 3 1/2" chamber.  The shortage is between the ejector and the forward end of the ejection port which is the rear end of the barrel.  It could be that they mis-marked a 3" chambered barrel or just made a dumb mistake.  All I know is that it won't work satisfactorily and I can't repair it.
