jh45gun , my old/new in the box Wolverine
« on: November 20, 2006, 08:52:20 PM »
Jim, here are two of my Excal Wolverines I thought you might like to see. Top one is a 1991 Wolverine I got from  friend a month ago when he found 2 at a dealer that were never picked up by the buyer. It was still new in thebox. Put mag tip limbs, a dropzone scope and a level on it.
Bottom Wolverine is my orginal 1992 purchase.
Last pic is the end of box with the old address where Wolverines were made.

Very Nice Digger. I like the magtips on mine too and of course I have the carved tips for spares if I would ever need them which I doubt. I have that three dot sight on mine but I think next year I will be using a scope I think the magnification would help. Red dots are fine but they are not as precise as a scope is.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

Digger forgot to ask what is the difference between a dropzone and a varizone scope and do they still make the dropzone?

The dropzone was made for the Wolverine and the Vixen. It was made for cross bows that shot 250-300 fps. they are no longer available. I tried the Excal factory and talked to Bill T and Peter, they don't even have  broken ones any where. They also had a Maxzone scope for xbows shooting 300-350 fps, they are getting rare. Varizones go from 250-350 fps and have the speed ring.
I also kept my carved limbs as the limbs on the other Wolverine are 15 years old but in good shape.

So since my Wolverine the way I have it set up now with the arrows  I shoot go about 265 I should  be able to use a Varizone. Or is there some other brand of xbow scope available for that range of speed that would be better?

Varizone is the way to go when scoping any Excal, it replaces the drop and max zones and easier to use.
