12-guage shotgun black powder loads?
« on: November 05, 2006, 06:07:28 AM »
...was wondering if anyone could give me a good safe load to shoot in one of the ond h and r huntsman black powder shotguns....don't know what is a save powder charge or sane amount of shot.....see on other forums that bp guns tend to like 2f powder rather thatn 3f and larger shot versus smaller....but did not get any safe charge amounts of either powder or shot in one of these odd little seen nef/hr guns.....

If it were mine, I'd start with 60 grains of 3F and 60 grains of 4s or 5s for small game.

70 grs of FFg, 1/8" over powder wad, 1/2" lubricated cushion wad, over shot card, 1 1/8 oz of shot(I prefer #6's for about everything), two over shot cards, in that order will make a nice load for most applications.
