Hornady 45/70 LeverEvolution
« on: October 30, 2006, 09:58:06 AM »
I got some very brief time at the range yesterday with my 45/70 and this ammo. Shot 1 at 25 yards, center, 2" left. Adj scope shot 2, bullseye. Moved to 100 yards, shot 3, center, 5" high. Adj scope, shots 4 and 5 side by side touching, 2-1/2" high.
I can't wait to get back out with more time and try some 100 and 200 yard 3 shot groups.

Thats good to hear. I have heard that the 30-30 Hornady Lever ammo is great and that the .25 Remington is not so hot. I have been wondering how the 45-70 stuff would be. I bought 2 boxes of the 30-30 stuff while I was in western PA, one for my brother in law in PA and one for myself. I could not find any .35 Remington or 45-70 anywhere. Hopefully some day it might become available here in the northeast....<><.... ::)

I tried some 45/70 LeverEvolution in my Marlin 1895 at 50 and 100yards. It did pretty well, but the Winchester Supreme Part. Gold did better. Of course 50 and 100 yards may not be the best range to test ammo meant for long range. I have to give it a try in the BC yet.

Got a nice doe with this load saturday. One shot at about 100 yards and she just collapsed. Entrance hole about 2x caliber size and about a 2" exit hole.
