Hornady SST 12ga question
« on: October 26, 2006, 03:38:41 AM »
Has anyone taken a deer with these yet ? I was sighting in with these and they print very well on paper but i don't know about the accual performance on deer. i use to shoot win bri but some how my gun a win 1300 won't shoot them at all, 6 inches low and 4 inches right at 25 yards ??? the groups with the SST's are 1 1/2 bulls at 100 yards , so i'm happy on paper but would like any info on the terminal performance.
thanks for any info O.D.

I have not shot the 12 gauge SST, but I have some for my 870.  However, the 12 gauge SSTs are 300 grain and if you go to the in-line muzzleloading forum, you can find discussions on the bullet's performance.  I actually just inquired about the same thing in reference to the bullet.  I am using 300 grain T/C Shockwaves this season in my muzzleloader and that is what the Shockwave bullet is, a Hornady SST-ML.

I killed two and my dad killed ten with them last year.  They worked very well for us if we held up our end of the deal.
