Won't be deer hunting with my son this year, maybe next.
« on: September 21, 2006, 12:18:36 PM »
We had plans to hunt Thanksgiving week and the week following, but Uncle Sam messed that up.

Mike reenlisted in the USAF on the 18th and later in the afternoon received orders and will be in IRAQ on 9/25!

The only good thing about it is, he'll only be there for 90 days!

He has 5 yrs and 1 mo. to go to retirement from the USAF and my other son Bryan has 5 yrs and 5 mo. to go to retirement from the US Army!

I'll be glad when they can both come home and not have to worry about where they will go next!

Thanks Bubba!

I was thinking though........... He will be back in the first part of January and if it was possible, I might go to Florida and hunt on his turf!

Chuck: I have had three soldiers up here to Alaska for bow hunts for black bears.  Maybe when they get back it might be something they would be interested in doing.

You must be proud of them!  Best of luck to them and hope their back soon.

Thanks Dave
I really appreciate that offer!

When I was in stationed in Alaska I never made it to Valdez. I used to do most of my hunting North of Anchorage!
I used to fish the Russian river and Cook Inlet, out of Anchor Point!  I've been from Homer to Chicken!

Dad, I am having Audrea talk to her family in Alabama to make sure it is cool for us to plan something in Alabama in January. If you want to look up the area they are in Clinton Alabama, Green county.

Thanks Ironglow, we were raised in the military so I guess it came natural that we both chose to enlist. I will get to do about a months worth of hunting in Alabama when I get back from this place.

Mike:

You don't know me but I just wanted to wish you well and I hope your 90 days passes quickly and is uneventful. All our guys/gals over there are doing a great job. Regardless of what you may read, the American people are behind you.

Be safe and get home to take that hunt with your Dad.

Thanks Mike and Bryan for your dedicated service! I have a friend in the sand box right now with the 101st. He's got about five weeks or so before he rotates out. We can't wait...............it's been a LONG year!
