Preconceived ideas of other ethnic groups usually cause negative attitudes, unintentioanally.
I have met, on a one to one bases, a goodly number of other than Northern Europe ethnic persons, and when
I was very young, for those who were totally new to me, Usually I just saw them as a learning experience, BUT, those for whom
I already had preconceived notion, that they were not what I expected them to be was, often , a pleasant surprise.
When I was, I met my first American Indian, and all I saw was the Hollywood Western bad guy indian, when I spoke to him, including telling
him I was an American and he was not. He said "Yes I am and I actually asked Dad if that were true. After that, he was very nice to
Us, and taught me a HUGE lesson as a youth.
Sadly some over sea ethnic person for whom my earlier meets gave me a very good impression has been strongly altered by
recent events, but such is life.
