A Look at What Is Coming to GBO Reloaded

## A Look at What Is Coming to GBO Reloaded

I have been working on a major rebuild of GBO Reloaded. The goal is not to replace the forums or erase our history.
The forums, member accounts, old discussions, and decades of useful information will remain at the center of GBO.

What is changing is everything being built around them.

The new site is being designed to work properly on desktop computers, tablets, and phones while remaining
  straightforward for longtime members.

  ### A Modern Forum Experience

The forums are being updated with a cleaner, more readable design and better navigation. Members who prefer familiar
forum themes will still be able to use them. The new main-site navigation will connect the homepage, forums,
marketplace, articles, members, and other sections without making GBO feel like several unrelated websites.

  ### A New GBO Marketplace

The old classifieds system will not be returning. We are building a new marketplace specifically for GBO members.

Planned and currently working features include:

  - Clear categories and subcategories
  - Simple browsing and searching
  - Sell, trade, and sell-or-trade listings
  - Asking price and Or Best Offer options
  - Multiple listing photographs with larger-image viewing
  - Active, pending, sold, expired, and withdrawn statuses
  - Direct contact with the listing automatically included in the message subject
  - Seller history and existing GBO Trader feedback
  - Saved listings and seller listing management
  - Reporting, moderation, transaction records, and dispute controls
  - A historical archive for older classifieds

Our long-standing firearms policy will remain: shipped firearm transactions must be handled FFL to FFL. In-person
transfers arranged between members remain the responsibility of the people involved.

The marketplace is being designed to be simple enough for longtime members while still looking and working like a
  modern marketplace for new visitors.

  ### Campfire Tales, Reviews, and Articles

GBO will have a completely new article system. We are restoring old Campfire Tales, hunting stories, firearm
information, handloading references, and product reviews that disappeared from the site years ago.

Members will also be able to submit new stories and articles for review. Articles can be organized by category and
subject, and product reviews will have their own searchable section.

More than 70 recovered GBO stories, reviews, and reference articles have already been prepared for and added to the new system.

  ### A New Homepage

The homepage will bring the different parts of GBO together. It will feature:

  - Active forum discussions
  - Featured marketplace listings
  - Campfire Tales and product reviews
  - Alabama outdoor news
  - Firearms and gun-rights news
  - Conservation and public-land information
  - Quick access to the most useful areas of the site

External news will be clearly credited and linked to its original source.

  ### What Comes After That

Once the main site, marketplace, and article system are ready, there are additional ideas being considered, including
a member hunting game, challenges and rankings, and better tools for searching the enormous amount of outdoor
knowledge contained in the GBO forums.

This is still under development, and the existing live site will remain available while the new system is tested. I
will share more screenshots and updates as the work progresses.

GBO has a tremendous history and a loyal community. The purpose of this rebuild is to preserve that history while
making the site useful, approachable, and interesting to a new generation of hunters, shooters, outdoorsmen, and
  women.

What would you most like to see in the new GBO Reloaded?

nope, you can keep the exact same look as you have now on the forums. I am not changing the forums software, I am just building new things on top of it.

Our long-standing firearms policy will remain: shipped firearm transactions must be handled FFL to FFL.

I'm curious why this policy exists since the Feds don't required it, and many states allow individuals to ship direct to FFL for out of state transfers.

Abide by all local, state and federal laws. My AI decided to put that line in and I did not catch it. I am using AI to sort all the info on the forums and I am working on an answer bot that will allow you to ask a question and the bot will dig through all of GBO and return links to everywhere info can be found related to the question asked. if it works it could be very useful and if not, well such is life.
