Another "shooting sport", done traditionally for the 4th of July.
Anvil shooting can be fun...and risky, so some gatherings have ruled it out.

This guy apparently does it regularly as a sideline. Anvils have a hollow spot in their base as part of the manufacturing process, but note that he has hogged out the base to hold more powder.

reason some don't allow is because an anvil could have a flaw in the base and blow apart, throwing pieces and shrapnel into the crowd. It has happened before.
