Yea; prayer works...but doesn't always work to the way we want it to. He has His plan, and it will come about..
I wouldn't say I disagree so much as I look at it differently.
I don't believe that the Creator has every minute detail of
our lives planned and written down, although I do believe
He is certainly capable of that.
I believe He sets options and paths before us to choose as
the mortal being we are hoping we'll do the right and just
thing as we live our daily lives with satan right at our elbow
silently urging us to choose the easy road.
I believe this because of the most important decision we
can make, that of eternal salvation or eternal damnation
is left entirely up to us and us alone.
I do not believe we are pre-ordained to one or the other, and we
have to make that choice ourselves. He gives us the map
and the ability to take the right path. Navigating it is on us.
Pretty much agreed with ^^
To clarify, "but doesn't always work to the way we want it to.".. Sometimes we pray for a specific healing or that a certain event work out positively, but it doesn't go that way.
There are times when God has a different plan in mind. For instance, Abraham & Sarah prayed for years for an heir..but none came..so they took things into their own hands..
They seemed to have forgotten that God had promised them an heir, but instead the utilized their maid Hagar to produce a son Ishmael. Still, God declared their own, full son, Jacob to be His promised heir.
Ishmael in turn, produced all those semitic tribes who oppose Jacob's people Israel, until this day.
Abraham & Sarah prayed for a son and thought they had it figured out...but God had a different plan.
Indeed, God answers prayer, but it may well be yes, no or not right now...but he doesn't necessarily do what we want, when we want.
Still, we are to be persistent in our prayers (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
