It wasn't about drugs. That was just the excuse. Venezuela is certainly not the main supplier of drugs into the U.S. If it is about drugs. Are we going to go into other countries that supply drugs here, and take out their leaders? Most of the drugs come from Mexico. Is their leader next? China provides a large portion of the chemicals to Mexico, to make fentanyl, and methamphetamine. America first, right? All the while we send billions and billions to other countries. Plus military aid. How many years will we have military personal in Venezuela? Oh and make sure you pay almost 50% of your earnings to the government in taxes or you will go to jail. Wonder who really benefits from taking Manduro out? Us or Israel?
I do have to quibble just a bit. With 100,000 Americans dying from fentanyl and other smuggled drugs, it has to be a primary, although not the only reason.
Consider, at 100K per year, that's 9/11 being repeated more than 30 times each year !
Other reasons...kick out the Chinese, Russian, Cuban and Islamist terrorist footholds found there.
Then there are the natural resources, starting but not finishing with oil. No sense allowing our enemies (e.g. the Commies) to get hold of them.
This has been a good move that has echoed around the world. First, with our wavering allies, second for our potential enemies.. China had set up the defenses against air or sea attack, and they didn't even see our forces coming..before they were vaporized..
Both China and Russia HAD to pay attention. Then third, opening up possibilities for expansion..Canadian provinces, Greenlane, etc.
Greenland is poised in a critical place, should the northwest passage open up for much shipping. Before that happens, the major northern powers will be
competing for Greenland. Now it is obvious, if Greenland must sign a defensive pact, they may as well go with the most super of the super powers.
