Well, when R. Ron Johnson just stated, the government can't afford to give the taxpayers a check for $2,000, after all they claimed to have saved, hmm, makes me wonder how much smoke and mirrors their putting in front of us?

I saw Johnson in that interview, and he suggested that money be put against our $38 Trillion debt. I can't argue with that, providing every cent goes to pay off debt,
    and not splurged on crap.

That's how i have always run my own finances..so i have to concur with him....so long as the above proviso is upheld..

I guess they way I look at it, the people that created the debt, don't want to help the people their depending on that actually will ''pay'' off the debt. And, as NW Bear pointed out, if they really wanted to lower the debt, shouldn't they quit spending so much? They keep the $2,000, and the debt keeps going up, thanks for nothing.

Eliminate the pay for congress. Stop the insider trading in its tracks. Take away Nancy's investments that led to her $100M bank roll on a $250K (whatever) salary. Shut down welfare for illegal immigration.

Yeah, well now DOGE is shut down. No wasteful spending has been stopped, No swamp creatures were drug out of their cubicles, and thrown in jail. What happened to saving money? What happened to the $5000 checks tax payers were going to get from all the money that was supposedly saved?  DOGE vanished like a failed tech start up. Its back to business as usual in DC.

Nancy’s $100 million bankroll? I’d read somewhere it’s more like $415 million.

Exactly..   ..And it seems almost every politician running for a federal office over the last few decades, has vowed that lobbyists should be kicked out of Washington,

but nobody manages to do it !

I did not look anything up prior to that post. I already knew her haul from what has been reported about her insider trading for that one deal.

Systemically, DC is the Swamp and nearly all the political participants there (both sides) are working for themselves. It is human nature. Make hay whille the sun shines.

Sad part, we know they'll never change. They might go in and have good intentions, but by the second term, their voting for their biggest donors, and not the people they represent. And for the foreseeable future, that will not change. Only way out that I can see, is a Convention of States. Get enough responsible people to vote, and put a limit on what they can, or cannot do. And how long they stay in. Otherwise, it'll keep happening.
