For those that know, how did the ankle piece get its nickname "Roscoe"?

Got a mental itch here today. Only you can scratch it. I suspect I could "Google it", but that seems ritually unclean when an eye-witness may lurk among us.

As I remember, which isn't much of a qualifier, it was a book about police and one of the main characters called his backup gun "Roscoe."  The name or tern "Roscoe Rules" fits in their somewhere.  I know that's not much help, but I can Tell you I named my backup gun "Roscoe" after that.  Ask my kids who Roscoe is and they will tell you "It's Dad's little revolver."

I called my backup pistol a new york reload.

 I recall a popular phrase from my years of living in Texas..   It was applied when somebody speaks too rapidly..or acts a bit to quickly or imprudently for the situation...

  It went.... "Hey now, just wait a New York minute".

Here's what I was referring to. "The Choirboys, a novel, is a controversial 1975 work of fiction written by Los Angeles Police Department officer-turned-novelist Joseph Wambaugh."

One of the lead character's in this book was Rosco Rules.  I think, as if anyone cares what I think,  that it is "controversial" because it includes a lot of scenarios that are everyday real to police that the majority of citizens never even dream about!

He wrote a number of darn good police story based books.
