Renaissance - the Blood and the Beauty
« on: Yesterday at 04:14:45 PM »

I just watch an episode of this on PBS, a very interesting show on what happened in Italy that destroyed the power of Roman Popes but more on how the great artist Michelangelo Buonarroti and Leonardo da Vinci how their art work came about but more important how their attitudes towards those for whom the served changed.

Michelangelo when the Habsburgs sacked Rome fled to the Florentine Republic, and celebrated his freedom from the Medici.
The show tell history that very, very few are aware nowadays, especially the sack of Rome by the follower of Luther's reformation, and thousands of women and children were massacred.

At the end of this show, Michelangelo said he no longer served the Pope, only God, but also said , no one will remember the history of what happened here, but only the Art.

PBS is not NPR, Most programs, at least for adults, have zip to do with woke or far left BS.

NPR , 35 , plus years ago, still had some shows (  especially Click & Clack auto show, and a Sunday Morning cooking show ) worth listening to but that ended a long, long time ago.

Years ago maybe a few good shows on PBS but now totally woke liberal crap on there. My opinion, defund immediately!

The kids shows are left wing bs, and the U.S. news shows on PBS are Left Wing crap, but there one has to watch more than PBS new to see wht else is there.
Most of the good shows are from over seas Father Brown, Midsomer Murders, Death in Paradise, and the best is Foyle's War.
Foyle's war is about a British Police Detective during WW II and his having to deal with the British snobbery that sees him not as good as they are because he is not a soldier.
It is an excellent show that shows part of the U.K. that is not usually shown, plus there is still Antique Road Show, This Old House (not as good as it once was but still entertaining) Master Piece Theater and a goodly number of other shows that have zip to do with current politics.

The far left U.S. based news show though, is why it is being de-funded, sad but a good idea.

Foyle's War was an excellent show, I watched it on some British television channel. Highly recommended.
