cleaned up my Redding BR-3 powder measure
« on: July 15, 2025, 01:07:19 PM »
Now that I got some spare time on my hands, doing more reloading. The BR-3 I got when I was a Redding dealer when they first came out. Only time it felt sticky or crunchy was when I was loading stick powders like 3031 or 4895. Was using CFE223 for some 5.56/.223 lately and when I rotated the handle up to dump powder in the case is wasn't smooth. It was throwing a consistent load but felt funny. Got thru loading up some .308 with 2015br and felt the same. Called Redding this morning and talked with a tech about possibly the drum was dirty. Asked him if it could be polished. Yep, told me how to disassemble it, had it apart in less than 10 minute's. And the drum had like a film and sticky feel to it. Grabbed some Brasso and a cloth and went to town, the drum, body and the actual piston. It wasn't bad but cleaned it anyway. Back together and feels like new. HMM, got some .44mag that needs to be loaded. Weather cools down might just sleep in the van at the range with all the ammo I'm getting loaded.
We keep trying peace, it usually doesn't work!!Remember(12/7/41)(9/11/01) gypsyman
