LOL, the one with the mom chasing her son with a stick certainly brings back a well known memory. I was in the yard one day on top of my brother beating him up over some disagreement. My mom was in the basement doing laundry in a ringer washer that required what I called a washing stick. She heard the commotion, and came charging out of the basement with the washing stick in hand.  I jumped up off my brother and took off. My mom chased me out across the field being right on my heels for a hundred yards. She didn't quite catch me, and finally gave up, but I paid for the brother abuse later.

I haven't thought about those old washer sticks in 60+ years. My grandmother ran a public washatier back in the 50s and those things were laying around everywhere in there. They all were slick with soap residue, and gluing.
The washatier had concrete floors with drains, and when you changed the water, you just unhooked the drain hose and laid it in the floor.
The smell in there was a clean smell and there were shelves with bottles of bluing for the white clothes.

Darn!   Back to the old washer stick!

Funny, how those old memories come up !  It was about 2 months ago, when I handed my wife's washer stick off to my granddaughter.

That stick was well worn, and bleached near white.  Although my wife was of the automatic washer age, her Mom would use nothing but a wringer washer, and my wife as a teenager did much of their family's washing.

...And she clung to the same practice...even going to the little Hoover washer, when wringer models were no longer available...before finally surrendering to the automatics. I remember her using that stick to periodically check the cleaning progress on the clothing.

That same stick was used by my wife's mother and grandmother, and since her grandmother came from Amish stock...I don't know if it goes back any farther !

...But in giving it to my granddaughter..it has come through ;D 4 generations, that I am sure of ! ;D
