I figured all northerners would celebrate Juneteenth as it commemorates not only the surrender of Robert E Lee, but also the day a northern general went down to Galveston and announced the freedom of the remaining colored slaves.
Its a northern holiday.

heck texas even has mexican-american pride day for the illegals you welcomed in way before biden and obama for cheap labor thin skinned? i had nothing but a smile on my face and a thank you to God for bringing me into the world in one of the last peaceful places in this country. we do now have a place we call little texas though. its the parking lot of the casino that has become a campground for about 20 motorhomes from down your way that i guess call that camping for the summer in the wilderness of the Upper Peninsula. heck theres even some trees there guess when they get lonely for home the indians there kind of resemble the people from back home

used to be part of Wisconsin in the beginning. personally most here dont care for lower Michigan or Wisconsin. now if the gave the lower 1/4 of michigan to ohio it would be a different story. let them have whitmer and her welfare cities and her muslim city too

 Celebrate June 19th for a different reason. One of the last times the U.S. actually did something to people being treasonous to our country. Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were executed by electric chair in 1953. Convicted of selling nuclear secrets to Russia. Now we invite them in.

I've always thought it was kinda funny. If you'd heard the Southern black versionof English back in the 50s and early 60s (and  before then) you'd understand where it came from.
In some parts of Texas Juneteenth is a 2 or 3 day  celebration. All kinds of good soul foods,  bbq, carnival rides and even beauty contests. They're almost always peaceful, fun, and whites are welcomed to attend. I don't think it hurts a thing personally.

It's only a holiday if you work for the feds......yea, the federal offices, banks, and post office are closed but every one else (except us retired folks) is at work.......

Hey, a freed slave should rejoice.  This is a good holiday IMO.  Regardless of race, color, etc. a man getting his freedom is a gift from God.   Now, what has happened since is tragic, as even though they were freed, the federal government has re-enslaved many with it's victimization and entitlement programs. 

The fire by day and the cloud by night lead slaves out of Egypt, but he still had to teach the former slaves how to be free.  Sadly, the learning process has been stimmed.  The streets of hell will be paved with the best of intentions.

    Not sure how it works, but contracts the USPS has with other systems, means some packages are delivered on Sunday and Holidays.
