Suppressors might come off of NFA/BATF list
« on: June 01, 2025, 01:49:03 AM »
With suppressors possibly coming off the BATF/NFA list and the $200 background check removed, I'm thinking of possible getting a couple. But what amaze's me, now that I have some interest in getting one! WOW, never realized the difference's and price range's. I understand it's about pressure at the muzzle, so one for e .22 rimfire is totally different than a .223. And price range's from $450 to $1450, is there that much difference in performance? Anybody got any real world experience with any of them, and throw some advice out there for me?

Suppressor laws are just another unconstitutional kick in the teeth to Americans, an overreach and abuse of power. Suppressors are no different then a muffler on an engine, while one is mandatory the other is against B S law… the last couple years I’ve been using walker game earmuffs, they amplify sound and then shut it off and work as muffs with a loud noise. For around $100, I highly recommend them, not the ones that look like a hearing aide.

I think suppressors should be legal, and dont understand  why they aren't. However, I've ve never been able to think of a reason that I'd need a suppressor.

I've had several posts from gun rights organizations, ,that the bill their trying to push through, Trumps Big Beautiful Bill, has a clause that takes suppressors off the NFA list, and no more $200 tariff. I guess that after almost 50 years of bowling pin match's, Bullseye, IHMSA, not shooting long range rifle in competition,(yet). But it might be nice to squeeze off a few rounds on a hot day and not have sweat running down my neck. Probably happen anyway, but worth a try. I did see were a couple of 1000 yd shooters said they got better groups with a suppressor than just a muzzle brake or plain barrel. Probably depends on the gun and who tuned it more than anything else.

problem is this bill only adresses the cost. you still have to go through the paper work mess and background checks, fingerprinting, trust ect. they should be for sale right next to the guns and you should be able to buy one and walk out of the gun shop and go shooting.

As I understand it, the version that passed the House completely removes suppressors from the NFA, not just removing the cost.  They'll still be regulated like firearms, so 4473 will be required but no other paperwork, no trust, etc. - *IF* it passes the Senate in its current form, of course, which is a big if.  Also, many states have laws that make them illegal unless registered with the NFA, so if it passes and becomes Federal law, those state laws will also need to change.  We are already working on what's necessary for Ohio, and I'm sure other state-level organizations are hard at work on their respective states as well.
