Remember Charo....the cuci cuci blond?

Known for cute ditzy blond comedy.

Well Charo studied classical Spanish guitar, flamenco style, for many years. In fact she's ranked 3rd in the world in that style, and known for speed and perfect performances

Wow, that looks like it would be difficult to master. But it did sound good.

I do remember her. She wore more war paint than Sitting Bull.

She played guitar on some of the variety shows she was on forty years ago.
She was/is incredibly good.
She always spoke about being married to Cugat, with accent the way she said Cugat always made me chuckle.
Birth name : María del Rosario Mercedes Pilar Martínez Molina Baeza  :o

I once picked up a hitch-hiking Mexican dude whose name I do not remember but pretty much Jose Sanchez equivalent.
I said well at least you are not cursed with a long string of names.
He said oh but I am, and gave me his birth name at least as long as Charo's.   ;D

I remember she was on the Muppet Show quite a bit, I had no idea she was that talented. Flamenco is a very difficult style. Even Eddie Van Halen admitted he had to cheat a little when he recorded the Flamenco intro on "Little Guitars" and he's one of the best rock guitarists ever.

Ah yes; the "coochie, coochie girl".. always effervescent and vivacious!  Yes, lots of makeup, and likely much surgery, but considering what her age must be, she still looks pretty good.

She was married to Xavier Cugat...a great band leader of the 1930s through the 1950s..

I remember her. I looked her up just now. She is 69 years old, still kind of a kid compared to some of us old coodgers on here.

Yeah, Cugat an obvious career move as he was 40 years her senior. I seem to  remember her guitar skills, but couldn't stay hooked on watching her long enough to see the talent because of the silliness.

Yes; she always seemed to be a "high energy" type person..perhaps too rambunctious for some.. :D

I saw Jimi and Band of Gypsys 1969 New Years Eve, Fillmore, NYC....quite an experience.

I saw Janis in Burlington, Vt. I forget the year, but she was terrific.I miss her.

Was Janis with Big Brother and the Holding Company when you saw her? That was her best band.
