What gun do you keep within reach?
« on: November 20, 2020, 11:46:52 AM »
At all times. Night or day? I like my CZ 75. With hot 9mm rounds. Used to be my 911, but arthritis in my hand made that hard to use.

Caves, very small caves I know where a few of them are. No bigger than a medium home walk in closet. Entrance covered up by brush. Found them out spotting for deer, or hunting when I was younger.
Militia guys buried some things in PVC, in the dunes during the Clinton years. But sometimes out there
everything can look the same, or changed so they weren't able to find them again.

I knew a fellow that used to live in SD and he claimed he'd buried a couple barrels of old surplus corrosive primed ammo in 2 different caves.  He's long gone now and I wonder if anyone will ever find his stash...

12 guage 870 loaded with buck and a 8.5 in 556 pistol and a glock 22 all within reach of the bed. Where i  sit in the living room the magazine rack has a 1911 and theres a pump shotgun in closets by each door.

yup and every other gun in the house and theres a FEW are all loaded. Only differnce being they dont have one in the chamber. My wife just bitched at me yesterday. Im putting together another ar. this one in 300 ham'r. The ar15 safe in the bedroom is chuck full. Ar pistols sitting on top of magazines from the rifles and two that already wont fit in there that are sitting next to it. She said thats it your getting another safe for christmas. that will be #4. One for the living room and one for each bedroom. Wife laughed and said i wonder what you would say if i had to have for closets to put shoes in? Good to have an understanding wife.

I would need another safe for the loaded, cocked, and locked guns spread throughout this house and its accessory structures, including vehicles, with which I and my spouse are thoroughly familiar.  I am disinclined to outline either for what or where to look.  I am a believer in concealment and surprise for the unlikely, but within the undeniable statistical realm of possibility, home invasion or personal defense.

Home invasion, had one of those once. A big Mexican illegal who was so sure no one would be armed.
Had MS13 tattooed on his face. Lots of warrants out on him.

I kept a gun nearby at night for a couple years, but no such stuff happens here.  If or when things may heat up over this stolen election, I'll probably do so again.
I do carry to church, since the shootup in that country church at Sutherland Springs.  It appears some twisted ...or devil controlled, minds think small, country churches are an easy mark.
I figure if need be, someday some intended shooter, may not find one so easy.

That deacon was very impressive under pressure.

Main HD guns are a Mossberg 590A1 12 gauge and a Stag AR-15 in 5.56mm, both are southpaw models (lefties always get the shaft in the gun world so I support companies who make southpaw models, even my semi-auto duck gun is left handed). I always have a pocket .380 on me in case I need to fight my way back to the long guns.

Elsie Pea 2 in the pocket around the house (since can't carry in this state). P01 w/light by my side of the bed, J frame on my wife's side.
Since we're in season, Girsan MC312 is usually full of whatever I was hunting with last - slugs or BB - in the hall closet. Current neighborhood is so tight, houses so old, I am more mindful of over penetration. Also have added two tripawds to the pack and they are excellent at early warning so I feel less likely to get caught by surprise.

What state are you in that you can't carry? (And, I think I'd be working on a change of residence - though I understand not all can do so for various reasons...)

He is in the military. I talked to him extensively as he was passing through on his way to his new duty station.

Argent88 nailed it - Navy bases are in coastal states. Most coastal states are blue, and do not allow carry.

I'm not much on revealing specifics. Guns are Prepositioned such that one is always within arms reach, night or day in all rooms. All have one thing in common: no on and off switch. Just point and pull trigger, then do again as needed.

Rifles, shotguns of course do have safeties.

thats why i rarely even carry a 1911 anymore or have one for a bedroom ect gun. I would buy the same gun with a safety as the same gun without it for half the money. Had a sig for a while that had one and used a dab of jb weld to disable it but allways worried if i had to shoot someone with it what the lawyers would say about me doing that. So i chipped it away and sold the gun.

I know for a fact that it takes the fire department 8 minutes to get here as they timed themselves recently when Vivent lost it's mind and called them about 12:30 AM. It didn't seem to upset the fire guys that it was a false alarm but I was seriously POed that it woke me from a sound sleep. The SO probably won't be any quicker. I'll just have to fend my attackers off with my trusty grubbing hoe handle until help arrives. We don't own any nasty ol' guns any more, emphasis on nasty.

None, sorry I lost all my guns in a tragic boating accident.  They're all now at the bottom of the Willamette river...
