Classics vs TCU
« on: November 09, 2019, 07:39:46 PM »
I have seen MGM listing "Classic" cartridges for .224-.284. From what I have been able to find, the case dimensions are almost the same as the Herrets, but they are only 30 and 35 caliber. How do they compare ballistics wise to the TCU line if anybody has experiences they want to share. I am just curious at this point.

I don't know the ballistics comparison  but looks like they should be close, By the way I could of gone the rest of my life NOT knowing about the classic 7 (mumbling) now I have something else to ponder (mumbling) I had decided some time ago to limit my self to just 2 parent cases 30-30 and 223 so of course this would fit.  ::) and no that did not work either

My apologies SEM. :)  I still haven't been able to find dies for them, so I believe you may be safe. This just came up as I was looking at 30-30, 30 Major (PPC Imp), 7.62x39, 7.62x40WT, 300 Hammr, 6.5 JDJ, 6TCU, 6.5x30-30, 30-20, 327FM, and quite a few others and comparing the cost to performance gains for reloading. The Herret has always intrigued me. I just don't have experience with that many forming steps, but would consider it for a performance boost. The TCUs are much easier to form.
